Celebrity interaction

One of the only celebrities I actually pay attention to is Tyler, The Creator. He is one of my favorite musicians, and he is a part of the larger rap collective Odd Future. He mainly interacts with fans through the use of Twitter (@fucktyler), however Odd Future occasionally posts Polaroids pertaining to their tour to their tumblr account (golfwang.tumblr.com/). Tyler is a 20-year-old kid from California, who honestly doesn't care about an image, fame, or anything. He frequently tweets at celebrities to call them dumb, or playfully poke fun (he did this with Bieber enough to actually meet him). The popularity of Tyler has only increased with how he presents himself. He tweets what he feels and whatever he wants with no regards to the consequences to himself. This realness and accessibility to him has helped fans identify with him, and given him a more widespread fan-base than he would have had otherwise.

  1. I love Tyler the Creator as well, mostly for his screw the world attitude. I think tha his out look is the perfect mix of optimism and pessimism. He clearly, does and says what he wants, when it wants. Yet it seems he manages to do it in a way that doesn't alienate him from others, but brings him closer. Somehow Tyler the Creator has become the poster child for just really not giving a flying f***. Oh and on a side note that picture is great.

  2. I have so much respect for Tyler the Creator. It's so rare to see a celebrity who pushes limits of what is acceptable. You can tell he truly cares about his fans. His negligence of wanting to be a cookie-cutter perfect celebrity, in fact gives him more fans. He is absolutely hysterical in all of his tweets and interviews, taking control of the interviewer and making fun of anything that comes in his sight. He pretty much lives the life of a hard working 14 year old, which isn't a bad thing at all. I mean he can have fun and be goofy, yet work super hard and make great music. His twitter really does help people get a great laugh and encourages people to be crazy sometimes. He's teaching his fans to not care for the consequences and judgement of others, which is incredible because it's so crucial we have a celebrity (role model), like this.

  3. Tyler is a great surface example of what a carless celebrity looks like. He does things opposite to social norms and keeps away from typical rapper stereotypes. However, I do wonder if he uses this as a ploy to get a larger fan base. His music does focus a lot on teenage rebellion as well as his actions which will draw the attention of almost every teen because we are all rebellious. I respect him because he is forming his on path to gain celebrity status. And even though he seemed the same as his public persona as when we met him, I can't help but wonder if it's all just a developed image to get more fans.
